Were You a AAA School Safety Patroller?

FROM ITS START IN 1920 TO TODAY, THE AAA SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL PROGRAM HAS PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN HELPING YOUNG STUDENTS LEARN TO BECOME LEADERS

We are looking to hear from former patrollers such as William Garvin, who served on his school’s Safety Patrol from 4th grade to 8th grade and remembers well the feeling of pride that came with the position.

“As I grow older, I often think back to those days [of being a patroller] and how it shaped me into the individual I am today,” says Garvin. “Now that I am a school crossing guard in Fairfax County [Virginia], I try to instill into the school patrollers I work with the same values I learned those many years ago in the hope that they will grow up to be important contributing adults.”

This year, the AAA School Safety Patrol marks its 100th anniversary.  As we prepare to celebrate this milestone, we invite all former patrollers to share their story. Please include the name of your school, its location, some details about your experience and a few words about how the program influenced your life.
